There are a few ways to get around Kundasang and the nearby Ranau town. However, the best way to do this is by self-driving. At the moment, e-hailing (i.e. Maxim and Grab) and public transport are not widely accessible therefore we recommend the following options: 

  • Rent a Car 

This is the best option to get around Kundasang and Ranau. Renting a car allows you to explore the area at your own pace. Not to mention, it’s super quick and easy to rent one! Numerous car rental services offer various vehicles, ranging from 4-seater cars to 12-seater vans.

  • Hire a Private Charter With a Personal Driver

For those seeking convenience, private charter services with personal drivers are readily available. 

By opting for a private charter, you gain the expertise of a skilled and knowledgeable driver who can efficiently guide you to the “must-see” spots in Kundasang and its surroundings.

Across from the entrance to Kinabalu Park, you’ll find an unofficial taxi stand where a group of drivers awaits passengers. 

Fares are typically fixed, starting at RM30 for travel within Kundasang, RM60 for Ranau, and RM100 for Poring Hot Spring.
