These rules may be cited as the 31st Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon Rules 2024 In these Rules:

• “CLIMBATHON” means the 31st Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon 2024.
• “COMMITTEE” means the Organising Committee of the 31st Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon 2024.
• “PARTICIPANT” means the participant of the Climbathon duly registered with the committee.

ENTRY FEES
   i. MALAYSIAN (Open & Veteran Category ) [RM250]
   ii. INTERNATIONAL 74USD [RM350]

ATTIRE
Each participant shall be free to choose his or her own attire for the Climbathon. However, the usage of transparent attire is STRICTLY PROHIBITED (Participants are reminded that the temperature at the mountain base varies from 13 to 20 degrees centigrade whilst the temperature at the summit of Mount Kinabalu ranges from 2 to10 degrees centigrade).

NUMBERS FOR PARTICIPANTS
Each participant shall be given an official number, which must be affixed with safety pins on the front and back of the participant’s attire.

TIME LIMIT
The time limit allocated to each participant shall be as follows:
A. Elite’s Men Category:
    i. Starting line to the summit within 2 hours 30 minutes.
   ii. Summit to finish line within 2 hours

B. Elite’s Women Category:
   i. Starting line to the summit within 3 hours 30 minutes.
  ii. Summit to finish line within 3 hours.

C. Men’s Veteran (40 years above) Category:
  i. Starting line to the summit within 3 hours 30 minutes.
 ii. Summit to finish line within 3 hours.

OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE
Each participant shall complete the Climbathon without any outside assistance.

CHECK STATION JUDGES
Check station judges, identified with name tags, will be based at various check stations along the Climbathon route, and each participant is required to pass through the check stations, failing which shall result in his or her automatic disqualification.

APPEAL JURY
Any participant may appeal to the Jury which consists of three members headed by a qualified Malaysian Amateur Athletics Union Technical Official. Any decision made by the appeal Jury is final.

INDEMNITY
The Committee is not liable for any injury or death, which occurs to any participant before, during, or after the Climbathon.

AMENDMENT TO RULES AND REGULATIONS
The Committee reserves the right to amend the Rules of the Climbathon at any time as it may deem fit.

ELIGIBILITY
Participants must be 18 years old as of 6 October 2024 to enter the Climbathon. Participants must be 40 years old born on or after 31 December 1984 to compete in the Men’s Veteran categories. Falsification of any information on the entry form, such as age classification, will result in disqualification.

MEN’S VETERAN AGE 40 ABOVE CATEGORY
Participants must present their identification card or passport during registration for age verification.

OTHERS
Due to the time limit, the Climbathon will not accept any entry from runners participating for charitable reasons.

Please be informed that the Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon 2024 will be held on the 6th of October this year with a quota of only 200 participants in Men’s Elite, Women’s Elite, and Men’s Veteran.

Participants must submit the relevant documents of results via the submission form below for consideration.

 1. Runners who have participated and completed the CLIMBATHON SUMMIT RACE year 2016 & 2017 within the time limit. Or;

 2. ⁠Completed in any recognised mountain or adventure race event(s) with a race route reaching up to or beyond 2,000 metres (with proof of results).Or;

 3. ⁠Recommended (in writing) by their country’s national mountain race/ athletic body or any other organisation that is recognised by the Climbathon organiser.
